The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented Underwriting support professional to assist Property business units with new and renewal underwriting activities. This role plays a critical part in the underwriting lifecycle, supporting submission intake, pricing, quoting, binding, and policy issuance while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of data and documentation.

The position requires strong analytical and organizational skills to review financial and statistical information, interpret data, and maintain accounts within underwriting systems. The role partners closely with underwriters, actuarial teams, brokers, and internal stakeholders to facilitate informed underwriting decisions and deliver high-quality service.

In addition to core processing responsibilities, this individual will contribute to process improvements, perform quality control checks to ensure data integrity, and support ongoing projects. The role may also involve mentoring junior team members and fostering collaboration across the underwriting team. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support new and renewal underwriting tasks for Property business units by organizing submission information; pricing, quoting, and binding support to underwriters
  • Review, analyze and input financial and statistical information in appropriate system(s) to provide timely and accurate service for quotes (pricing), policy and endorsement issuance, reinsurance booking, and provide additional required documentation
  • Interpret data and set up accounts in appropriate system(s) ensuring accuracy, often working directly with the account underwriter and/or actuarial team members
  • Support insurance policy and reinsurance contract binding, issuance, and service requirements
  • High interaction and coordination with broker agents and internal team members to support underwriting decisions and to obtain and provide information as needed.
  • Recommend process improvements, tool enhancements, testing of system and process changes
  • Act as a mentor and/or coach to Underwriting Assistants and peers as necessary  
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure data accuracy and maximize the integrity, quality, and usability of information
  • Assist team members with and support projects as needed/assigned

Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess the following experience/skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in related field
  • 3+ years insurance company experience with emphasis on analytic functions in underwriting support
  • Ability to work in an often fast-paced, client-centric environment
  • Excellent customer service skills and working knowledge of insurance policies
  • Intermediate to expert level computer skills – Microsoft Excel (highly important), Word, SharePoint, and Outlook
