"I already got to know MEAG as a working student and trainee ‒ and now I'm a portfolio manager in Portfolio Management Equities. A good basis for my career."

FAQs for interns and working students

What should I bear in mind if I want to join MEAG as a working student or intern?

We offer working student jobs and internships primarily at our Munich location. Please note that we expect our working students and interns to be present on site and that mobile working is only possible within Germany after prior consultation with the relevant department and approval. As a rule, we expect working students to be available for a minimum of 6 months, but we also employ our working students on fixed-term contracts for up to 2 years if they are suitably qualified and available. You should plan for your internship at MEAG to last at least 3 months. When applying for an internship, please also let us know the period (possible start/end date) during which you plan to do the internship and whether it is a compulsory or voluntary internship.

What formal criteria do I need to meet to get a job as a working student or intern?

To be eligible for a working student position at MEAG, you must be enrolled as a full-time student at a university. Please note that students enrolled in part-time programs, on a semester break, or taking a gap year do not meet the criteria for working students. Enrollment is also mandatory for an internship at MEAG. As an exception to this requirement, internships are only possible to bridge the gap between a completed bachelor's degree and an upcoming master's degree.
Other parallel employment may affect your working student status and must be disclosed to MEAG before you start working. As non-EU citizens, working students and interns are also subject to restrictions on employment within Germany. Therefore, please ensure that you have valid work documents (residence permit, work permit, or provisional residence permit).

How many hours per week does a working student work?

Depending on the position you choose with us, as a working student you will generally work for around 15 to 20 hours per week, at flexible times based on the respective agreement. As a working student you are not permitted to work more than 20 hours per week during lecture periods. It is possible to move to full-time employment during lecture-free periods in consultation with the given department and depending on the volume of work.

How much is a working student paid?

Remuneration for your work will depend on your duties and the specified timeframe, and will correspond with the going local and industry rates based on duties and previous experience.

Can I apply for more than one job at the same time?

Applications for different jobs are welcome. Please submit a suitable application for each job you apply for, because the documents are always reviewed by the relevant department.

Selection process?

Initial interview at the regional office, followed by a selection day and an offer.
