The Risk Intelligence and Knowledge Systems (RIKS) unit is part of the Life & Health division, serving as a regional analytics center for Europe, UK, and Latin Americas. The overall department is responsible for AI strategy development and execution, biometrics insights, and knowledge modelling for more than 40 markets, 500+ cedents, and 1,500+ active reinsurance contracts. We strategically invest in scalable, easy-to-use data and knowledge technologies to create and operationalize high-quality products and services using structured and unstructured data, serving both internal and external clients. We believe that better data and advanced analytics can strengthen our reinsurance core and will be the foundation for the business models of tomorrow.

Are you someone who thrives across the full data stack – from wrangling raw inputs to shipping GenAI-powered outputs? We are looking for a hands-on, curious individual to join RIKS as a Data & AI Generalist on a permanent basis in a part-time capacity (50%). You will work across data preparation, engineering, and applied GenAI, with UI/UX Power BI contributions, helping us move faster and deliver more with our existing team.

Your Job

  • Prepare, clean, and integrate data from cedents and internal sources; perform exploratory data analysis to assess quality, detect anomalies, and make data fit for downstream use
  • Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines for recurring and ad-hoc data deliveries, automating ingestion, transformation, and loading into our data / knowledge systems
  • Support data engineering tasks including pipeline maintenance, SQL-based processing, and integration with our Databricks and Azure data platform
  • Contribute to applied GenAI use cases – including prompt engineering, RAG-based applications, and lightweight agentic workflows that generate tangible value for our business units
  • Build and maintain Power BI reports and semantic data models to support self-service analytics across underwriting, pricing, claims, and medical functions
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, AI/ML engineers, and knowledge graph specialists to integrate your work into broader RIKS systems and workflows
  • Document data flows, transformations, and models; contribute to data quality standards and governance practices

Your Profile

  • Solid, practical experience across data preparation, data engineering, and applied analytics, comfortable working end-to-end with real data
  • Proficient in Python and SQL; experience with R and Databricks is a plus
  • Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and working with structured data at scale
  • Exposure to GenAI tooling and LLM-based applications (e.g., LangChain, Azure OpenAI, RAG patterns); curiosity and willingness to go deeper
  • Working knowledge of Power BI, including data modelling, Power Query, and DAX
  • Experience in (re)insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry is an advantage but not a must
  • Structured, reliable, and able to work independently in a part-time, asynchronous team setup
  • Creative problem-solver with a pragmatic mindset. You know when good enough is good enough and when it is not.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
