CFO is responsible for the integrity of the financial information of the business and the custodian of shareholder value. This includes accounting, all facets of financial reporting, Non-life and Life actuarial reporting, expense management and processing, capital management, investment accounting and tax accounting. The division is a shared service function and it services all entities in Australia and New Zealand.

Life Actuarial Risk Management (LARM)The LARM team deliver relevant and reliable information on financial reporting, analysis, risk, capital and value to stakeholders. In the life insurance reporting system, IFRS17, Solvency and VNB are considered especially complicated. At MRA, the dedicated professionals who investigate these complex calculations are members of a team known as the Life Actuarial Risk Management (LARM).

Your Role

  • Deliver all aspects of MRA’s capital management requirements, including quarterly calculations and APRA reporting of MRA’s capital position, annual ICAAP Report preparation, capital forecasting, asset-liability management, Munich Re group capital calculations and reporting.
  • Provide support to MRA pricing in relation to return on capital metrics and availability of capital.
  • Provide support to Munich Re group on financial structuring and asset-liability projects.
  • Provide technical review and guidance to LARM team members producing capital results.
  • Work with the Head of Valuation on the resource needs to support capital management activities.
  • Promote the values of the LARM team, being collaborative, pragmatic, and trusted.
  • As needed, assist Munich Re colleagues overseas and MRA’s auditor queries to promote openness and transparency.
  • Promote a strong risk culture within the LARM team through technical reviews, including review of the LARM teams risk controls.
  • Support the Head of Valuation and the Chief & Appointed Actuary by providing quality assurance on valuation deliverables; and input and opinion as the capital subject matter expert.

Your Profile

  • Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (or equivalent).
  • Extensive life insurance valuation actuarial experience, including at least 5 years of Australian capital expertise. Reinsurance experience will be an advantage.
  • Experience in life prudential regime in Australia and internationally including IFRS17 / AASB17, LAGIC and Solvency II.
  • Good presentation skills, particularly in relation to explaining complex financial results.
  • Expert user of Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, and knowledge of Munich Re systems and tools will be an advantage.
