We are seeking a skilled Software QA Engineer with expertise in Python and modern backend frameworks to join the alitheia team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about building scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs and services that power data-driven solutions. This is a hands-on QA role where you’ll partner with developers, product management, data scientists, and underwriters to develop and execute automated testing solutions. You will work on mission-critical systems leveraging AI, electronic health records (EHRs), and other complex, sensitive medical data to make it easier for people to get essential life insurance coverage. The role sits in a high-impact team dedicated to building the industry’s most advanced solution for medical risk assessment. The position offers substantial opportunity to shape a new solution, ship product quickly and see immediate impact.


Responsibilities
•    Design and execute scalable automated tests across functional, integration, API, regression, and end-to-end testing to meet our quality and technology standards
•    Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and feedback
•    Develop and execute automated and manual test plans to support system and release validation
•    Collaborate with developers, product management, and client implementation teams to deliver testing automation aligned to requirements, technical design, user stories and acceptance criteria
•    Partner with the team to find and fix defects while continually improving our testing approach
•    Provide testing insights, quality metrics, and assessment of defects and automation gaps to alitheia team
•    Continuously improve and strengthen our quality processes and procedures.
•    Keep current on emerging testing frameworks, tools, and technologies

Specialized Skills
•    Strong understanding of testing methodologies, including smoke testing, functional testing, regression testing, unit testing
•    Experience with automated testing, test automation tools, and test-driven development
•    Experience with CI/CD tools and version control systems 
•    Professional experience with Python preferred; understanding of software design lifecycle (SDLC) best practices
•    Familiar with API design tools/languages
•    Experience with cloud computing and orchestration tools
•    Experience with containerizations tools 


Required Qualifications
•    3 years of Software Engineering experience
•    2 years of experience in Software QA Engineering 
•    2 years of experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks
•    2 years of experience automating web applications, APIs, backend services, including end-to-end workflows
•    2 years of experience integrating testing automation into CI/CD pipelines
•    Experience creating comprehensive test cases that cover happy paths, edge cases, and failure scenarios
•    Excellent writing skills in delivering clear, detailed test documentation and reporting  
•    Comfort working collaboratively across functions

For New York City based employees, the base salary range anticipated for this position is $125,000-$145,000, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
