Language Design Specialist
This position entails creating language that will be employed in our reinsurance and direct distribution channels, covering new product implementations, enhancements, and the expansion of partner companies into new states. This role is responsible for development of customized coverage and policy language for our partner insurance companies, including reinsurance, assumed and direct. As a key member of customer Client Integration Teams (CIT), consults with partner carrier counterparts to provide HSB’s coverage in the most efficient way and to ensure Dept of Insurance form filing compliance while meeting operational implications of our partner carriers. Focuses on custom crafting coverage/policy and form filing compliance for all HSB products reinsured products.
For HSB’s direct distribution products, develops and provides required comprehensive form filing materials such as form filing memorandums, transmittal documents, policy form and ancillary documents to be filed with the respective state Departments of Insurance.
For direct and reinsured products, responsible for responding to state Department of Insurance objections received around HSB policy language, often consulting with experts within product management, underwriting and/or legal to resolve such objections to ensure approval. In addition, this role is responsible for identifying potential changes to form filing materials based on regulatory feedback from DOI’s.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5 years’ experience insurance industry
- Experience working independently and with a team environment
Knowledge and Skills
- Insurance industry experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Customer insight skills – demonstrates sensitivity to how the CIT and Client Company relationship works
- Detail oriented
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
