The internship programme is designed to give you meaningful, hands-on experience through day-to-day business activities and project work that makes a real impact. Whether you’re analysing data, developing technologies, or supporting customers, you’ll be entrusted with responsibilities that matter. You’ll also have the chance to learn directly from experts in their fields and gain valuable insights for your future.  

Start date: May
Duration: 12 weeks
Recruitment timeline: Applications open with Singapore university job portals in February, for a May start date, hence early applications are encouraged
Hiring units: Life & Health, Property & Casualty, Central Life Reserving, IT, Accounting & Finance, Compliance, HR, and Marketing & Communications.

How to apply for a Singapore Summer Internship

Step 1 / Check your university portal 
Internship positions are posted on Singapore university job portals every February.

Step 2 / Submit your application 
Apply directly via your university’s portal with the required documents. 

Step 3 / Selection process 
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to 1–2 interviews with the hiring team. 

Step 4 / What we assess 
We look at your technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and communication skills — to ensure a strong fit for both the role and our culture.

FAQ

Do you have Internship opportunities outside of the Summer Programme?

Occasionally. Any additional opportunities will be advertised on the main Munich Re career website. 

I’m not studying one of the courses mentioned, can I still apply?

Yes! While we highlight typical degree courses, we welcome applications from students across a broad range of relevant academic disciplines. 

 I am interested in the Summer Internship but I’m not available during the time period mentioned, can it be flexible?

Not typically. The Internship Programme has defined start and end dates, with dedicated activities and project work planned around them. We therefore ask students to commit to the full duration. 

Am I able to join the Summer Internship remotely, from another location?

Unfortunately not. While we support hybrid working, in-person interaction is especially valuable at the early stages of your career. The networking, collaboration, and exposure you gain by being on-site are truly invaluable. 

Is the Summer Internship credit-bearing?

No. The programme is not credit-bearing, but we are happy to provide a reference confirming your participation. 

 Is it a paid internship?

Yes. Interns are paid at a rate aligned with the Singapore market. .

What would a successful application look like?

It varies from role to role. As a general rule, we expect students to have high academic attainment, be curious and inquisitive, and have a genuine interest in the industry. Strong communication skills are also paramount. 

What will I learn during the Summer Internship?

Your experience will depend on the role, but you can expect meaningful, real-world work — both day-to-day tasks and project assignments. You’ll also gain exposure to senior colleagues, offering valuable insight into how executives work and communicate. Rest assured, our interns are here to contribute and have an impact.

Is there the possibility to become a permanent employee afterwards?

It depends on business needs at the time. However, we are proud that many of our former interns have gone on to join us as permanent employees.
