AVP FP&A Business Partner

Responsible for financial reporting, expense management, forecast, and planning for the PRS division. Interacts with senior leadership across HSB and reporting teams at Munich Re on PRS division performance and outlook. Serves as a financial advisor and strategic consultant to the PRS division.  Performs financial modeling and scenario analysis. Coordinates with finance and operations to assess operational impact of business initiatives and assist in the implementation of new business strategies. Conducts due diligence on new business models.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field is required
  • MBA with concentration in Finance, CPA or CFA preferred
  • 15+ years of overall professional experience required with strong financial analysis skills supporting a business unit.
  • 5+ years of broad operations management experience in the insurance industry preferred; engineering or underwriting experience a plus
  • Experience presenting complex financial information to senior management in a clear and straight forward manner 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong combination of business acumen and technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of general industry and insurance concepts and ability to pick up new concepts quickly desired
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in reporting and forecasting. Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Excellent customer focus and ability to partner with external and internal customers including, but not limited to Underwriting, Marketing, and Strategic Products.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across Finance and business teams.
  • Strong communications skills and ability to present to high level audience, able to tell the story through presentations and support with data
  • Results orientated and pragmatic management approach that is continuously focused on execution and problem solving while balancing speed and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with actuarial methodology and concepts a plus
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with large datasets, perform complex analysis, and develop efficient reporting tools.
  • Experience with data wrangling and data analysis, with the ability to work comfortably at both a summary and detailed transaction level.
  • Power BI experience preferred. Should be willing to learn new technologies quickly and demonstrate an aptitude for adopting new tools and processes.
  • Ability to build complex financial models
  • Fluency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on identifying and implementing process efficiencies and automation opportunities.
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented, efficient, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple deliverables simultaneously while partnering effectively with stakeholders across the organization
