We are seeking an experienced and proactive Scrum Master to guide and coach our agile teams in the successful delivery of a core policy administration system transformation using the Duck Creek platform. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring effective adoption of Agile/Scrum principles within the context of P&C insurance processes and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Agile Ceremonies: Organize and lead all Scrum events, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring they are productive and kept within timeboxes.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Coach the development team, Product Owner, and stakeholders on Scrum values, principles, and best practices to promote self-management and cross-functionality.
  • Impediment Removal: Proactively identify, track, and remove impediments or blockers that hinder the team's progress, protecting the team from outside interference and distractions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate communication and collaboration between the technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with the overall program goals.
  • Backlog Management Support: Assist the Product Owner with effective backlog management, helping ensure product backlog items are clear, concise, and ready for the next sprint.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Track and communicate Agile metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown charts, KPIs) to monitor project health, identify areas for improvement, and provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Quality Assurance: Advocate for quality practices, ensuring the team adheres to the "Definition of Done" and focuses on delivering high-value, quality software increments that meet performance expectations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Scrum Master in a software development environment.
    • Specific experience in the insurance industry, preferably within P&C (Property & Casualty) and with exposure to policy, billing, or claims systems transformation projects.
    • Familiarity with large-scale software implementations or customizations of COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) insurance applications (experience with Duck Creek is a significant advantage).
    • Experience working in a hybrid environment with both onshore and offshore team members.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
    • Proficiency with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence).
    • General understanding of software development principles to effectively communicate with the development team and understand their challenges.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional servant leadership, facilitation, and coaching skills.
    • Strong communication and conflict resolution abilities, with a focus on building a positive and collaborative team environment.
    • Problem-solving and analytical skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Education/Certification:
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Business, etc.) or equivalent experience.
