Munich RE, a leading global reinsurer, is recruiting for a Senior Life Underwriting Manager for its High Net Worth (HNW) business. A dominant player in the HNW market, Munich RE Singapore reinsures business written out of the 3 main jurisdictions - Singapore, Hong Kong and Bermuda.

Reporting to the Head of HNW Underwriting for Munich Re Singapore, this senior role involves contributing to the development and execution of profitable HNW business growth by delivering excellence in underwriting standards and client management for ultra-high net worth risks.

As part of the HNW Team you will demonstrate the highest standards in risk acceptance including delivery of flexible solutions to win complex facultative referrals whilst adhering to Munich Re's risk philosophy.

Your Role

  • Contribute to the day-to-day operations of the HNW underwriting team including attainment of agreed turnaround times and maintenance of highest quality technical decisions on complex and ultra-large risks.
  • Responsibility for managing relationships with a selection of treaty clients and supporting general client management of HNW carriers.
  • Assist your team to become a Centre of Competence in all areas of risk selection, providing training and guidance to new team members / teams as required.
  • Involvement in quotations for new and existing treaties, including creation of appropriate guidelines for medical and financial risks and residency classification tables tailored to specific HNW characteristics
  • Perform market research on underwriting practices and products, including any emerging trends in the local and global life insurance market.
  • Showcase Munich Re's leadership in HNW by participating in local and regional marketing activities and industry functions (e.g., seminars, workshops, specialist presentations)
  • Perform regular technical underwriting audits on treaty clients

Your Profile

  • Technical underwriting skills of the highest order
  • Minimum of 5 years HNW underwriting in Singapore, Hong Kong or Bermuda
  • Minimum of 10+ years overall experience in underwriting life, disability and critical illness applications
  • Qualification in professional insurance exams, e.g., Chartered Insurance Institute, Academy of Life Underwriting or equivalent
  • Experience in product development, business administration and client relationship management
