Expense Plan Analyst

The Opportunity

This position will lead and monitor all aspects of the expense planning process and controls. Responsible for the process, expense planning tool, training, documentation as well as monthly monitoring. Primary contact for the MRAM business units and MRAS service areas, for expense plan related questions and support. Collaborate with team members in support of variance analyses (actual vs plan expense). Lead all facets of the expense plan process: expense, allocations and staff budgets. This is an opportunity to support the corporate expense function while building relationships across a global organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and reporting of the expense plan and staff budgets.  Understand and apply global expense plan requirements as well as additional local requirements. Provide assistance and guidance for the budgeting process to divisional specialists across MRAM and MRAS. Review expense requests and allocation changes for validation; review material variances with manager. Assist in preparation of annual plan exhibits. Prepare and run the expense allocation process and required data loads.  Prepare all appropriate schedules, including reconciliation of baseline and final expense figures. Ensure proper controls are followed, including manager reviews and sign-off from senior management. Maintain existing expense process documentation.
  • Manage the expense planning tool, lead trainings, and maintain documentation. Ensure expense planning tool meets all global and local requirements. Partner with Munich colleagues to implement any tool updates prior to annual kick-off. After annual process, assess tool for enhancements; prioritize requirements, liase with IT to implement. Train users. Serve as the local expert for questions and support. Maintain documentation (administarive guide and user guide).

  • Support expense plan analysis, including validating expense requests, variances from prior year budget, variance of actuals to plan. Analysis may involve review the existing reports and dashboards, running queries in SAP, and/or communicating with business staff. Collaborate with team members and/or manager to support inquiries from business staff, senior leaders, and/or Munich.

  • Responsible for the monthly budget conformance reporting. Collaborate with team members to ensure the monthly release of the budget-conformance dashboard with accurate and timely updates. Collaborate with manager to drive enhancements (i.e. inclusion of expense detail). Maintain process documentation.
  • Support special expense-related projects, as knowledge develops.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 7+ years’ experience in accounting or financial analysis
  • Knowledge and experience with expense process, business planning
  • Solid systems background, including excellent knowledge of excel and data analysis; Power BI and SAP a plus
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Team-orientated individual: Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with varying levels of staff, from peers to managers to senior management
  • Disciplined and actionable: Ability to work effectively in an environment with firm deliverables

The Company is open to considering candidates in Princeton, NJ. The salary range posted below applies to the Company’s Princeton location.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is$100,000 - $120,000plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.  In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). 

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in Princeton. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
