Senior Financial Systems Specialist

Provide hands-on systems support to the Corporate Finance group. Serve as the liaison between functional users and IT technical staff. Test, maintain, and monitor financial related programs and systems, including collaborating on upgrades/installation of applications and systems. Train staff and users to work with computer systems and programs. Develop, document and revise system processes, and procedures manuals, including test plans. Manage and coordinate the monthly and quarterly closing processes as they relate to systems and reporting for 40 plus entities.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Information Technology is required or equivalent work experience.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Business or Technology Management is a plus.
  • 7+ years experience in accounting systems is required.
  • PMP is a plus

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience in accounting close management, general accounting, and technical accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and lead close processes.
  • Effective collaboration and partnership capabilities
  • Proven experience with assessing close and reporting risks.
  • Strong written/oral communication skills
  • Strong multi-tasking skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Tactical ability to quickly prioritize issues and react well to change and shifting priorities.
  • Strong application skills including Excel spreadsheets (writing macros a plus) databases and ERPs, PeopleSoft G/L and nVision experience a strong plus.
  • Strong data management skills
  • Experience with Accounting and Financial systems, particularly ledgers and sub-ledgers.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial and SAP would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of reporting automation tools (Power BI) and business intelligence a plus
  • Knowledge of Insurance or Financial Services preferred.
