Sr. Program Manager – GSI Enterprise Delivery

The Sr. Program Manager, IT role provides strategic leadership, guidance and subject matter expertise to assigned areas of IT. This role acts as a main point of contact, communicating effectively with senior management, clients and across Munich Re to act as a strong advocate and steward for the GSI Enterprise Delivery. The Sr. Program Manager role calls for an innovative manager with a clear vision who is willing to take risks, delegate efficiently and negotiate effectively on behalf of GSI Enterprise Delivery to obtain results. The Sr. Program Manager has a broad effect across Munich Re from an organizational perspective and leverages the role through positive, productive interactions across various levels and partnerships within Munich Re IT and operational business units. The Sr. Program Manager strategically oversees a staff of both internal and contract employees, providing innovative direction, timely coaching, planning and project objectives to the team. Additionally, this role provides financial management expertise by developing program budgets and ensuring that all work falls within the guidelines of the approved budgets. 
The Sr. Program Manager for GSI Enterprise Delivery will be responsible for the delivery of solutions that span the GSI business units.  The role includes understanding the GSI IT strategy and ensuring a solid cost effective solution that can be used and maintained at a cost effective price across the desired GSI operating business units. The Sr. Program Manager will be accountable for building strategic partnerships within GSI and GSI IT, leveraging IT capabilities. In addition, the scope of this function includes delivery for domain analysis & design, application development & testing, release planning & deployment, and application maintenance & production support.  


Responsibilities:

•    Technical Acumen.  Demonstrate the functional and technical knowledge and expertise of agile application development. Execute the responsibilities of a Sr. Program Manager, including administrative work to effectively manage the program team. Challenge the work being done in the group, as appropriate.  Lead, motivate, and set a vision for the teams. 
•    Learning Agility. Critically analyze problems based on relevant experiences, anticipate changes, and recognize the need to sometimes alter course.  Bring new solutions to problems. Learn continuously about new technologies and processes and how they might apply to GSI Enterprise Delivery.
•    Relationship Mastery. Build and sustain trusting, effective, and respectful relationships with colleagues, partners, and customers. Actively seek diverse perspectives and interaction from all circles of people when getting work done, forming teams, and collaborating for the benefit of GSI IT.  Effectively lead on complex projects and provide advanced problem solving and subject matter expertise.
•    Results Orientation.  Consistently deliver on commitments while upholding the highest standards. Fulfill assigned tasks on time, with the resources assigned, without sub-optimizing other functions.
•    End-to- End Munich Re Understanding.  See the “big picture” of the organization— the way in which various processes interact across the organization.  Understand the key drivers of the organization’s success from mission to customer experience to financial performance and how these relate to each other.
•    Market Insight and Service Orientation.  Demonstrate an understanding of the “problem to be solved” for GSI customers in various markets. Act with the customer or internal stakeholder in mind and consider downstream implications.
•    IT strategy and implementation that is consistent with the needs of the organization and results in significant quality and cost improvements
•    Operational, timely and accurate deliverables produced by the projects
•    Financial performance for the programs / projects that meets divisional and corporate financial objectives
•    Governance and execution of complex IT strategy and projects
•    Relevant and timely communication to senior executives regarding ongoing project status to enable strategic decision making
•    Implementation of quality and process improvements

Qualifications:
Candidate should have the following:

•    Bachelor degree in Computer science or equivalent practitioner with excellent IT skills
•    10-15 years of progressively responsible experience in IT management in a midsize to large scale organization
•    Strong experience with product lifecycle maintenance 
•    Good communication skills both written and verbal with technical and business groups
•    Demonstrated leadership skills 
•    Results oriented with a track record of delivery
•    Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team 
•    Ability to influence peers and colleges 
•    Sound knowledge of agile software development and methodology
•    Pronounced analytical and conceptual capabilities coupled with the ability to present complex situations in a clear and precise way

Job Location: 

The position is based in the USA.  However, occasional travel may be required to one of the  global IT organization main hubs of Cincinnati/Princeton/Hartford, Singapore/Sydney, London and Munich.
