Business Intelligence Analyst

American Modern Insurance Group is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to support our Claims Division. In this role, you will support teams by transforming data into actionable insights that improve operational performance, claim outcomes, and strategic decision‑making. This role partners closely with Claims leadership and business stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions using modern BI tools and cloud data platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Claims leadership and business users to gather reporting and analytical requirements, translating business needs into effective BI solutions.
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that provide visibility into Claims performance, trends, and key metrics.
- Leverage cloud-based data processing and data vizualation platforms to support scalable data processing, analytics, and reporting solutions.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from enterprise data warehouses and operational systems.
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, outliers, and opportunities related to claims severity, frequency, cycle time, leakage, and catastrophe impacts.
- Support regulatory and compliance reporting (e.g., DOI and other required submissions) in collaboration with Compliance and Claims leadership.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reports and dashboards through validation and quality checks.
- Present insights and findings to Claims leaders and business partners in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Claims reporting and analytics, providing guidance and support to business partners and other analysts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in a Business Intelligence, Data Analyst, or similar analytics role
- Demonstrated experience building production-ready reports and dashboards for business users
- SQL (advanced querying, joins, performance optimization)
- Big-data processing platforms or similar cloud-based analytics platforms certificaton is required. If candidate does not have the certification upon hire, must obtain certification within 6 months of employment
- Experience building and maintaining enterprise reports and dashboards
- Strong understanding of relational databases and data warehouses
- Proficiency with Excel for analysis and validation
- Familiarity with claims data concepts such as loss trending, catastrophes, severity, frequency, and cycle time
- Experience working with large, complex datasets in a regulated environment
- Exposure to data governance, data quality, or regulatory reporting
