At Munich Re, our global compliance community shapes and promotes integrity across the Group. Global Compliance defines Munich Re’s Group-wide Compliance Management System (CMS) and connects local Compliance Functions through a functional reporting line while preserving their local accountabilities. 

We are looking for an experienced compliance professional in Milan, who will be employed by Munich Re Italy to hold the local Compliance Function for the Italian branches of Munich Reinsurance Company and Great Lakes Insurance SE. The role works closely with local management and the relevant regional and Group functions. Compliance is the role’s primary mandate. The role also serves as local Data Protection Expert and provides legal support on selected corporate, regulatory and commercial matters. 

Your Job 

  • Leading and continuously enhancing the implementation and effective operation of the Group Compliance Management System for the relevant Italian operations. 
  • Managing or coordinating whistleblowing reports, Compliance cases and investigations and ensuring transparent reporting and escalation of material Compliance matters. 
  • Acting as an independent advisor and trusted partner to local management and business functions, providing guidance and constructive challenge. 
  • Actively supporting regional and Group-wide Compliance initiatives, driving alignment, collaboration and continuous enhancement of the Compliance framework. 
  • Acting as local Data Protection Expert and advising on relevant data protection matters. 
  • Coordinating with the Group Data Protection function and supporting local implementation of Group requirements and remediation measures. 
  • Advising on selected corporate, regulatory and commercial legal matters affecting the Italian operations. 
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating selected agreements and coordinating with Group Legal, Procurement and external counsel as required. 

Your Profile 

  • University degree in law; admission to practice law in Italy or an equivalent qualification is preferred. 
  • At least five years of relevant Compliance and/or Legal experience, preferably in insurance, reinsurance or financial services. 
  • Sound knowledge of compliance management systems and the Italian and European regulatory environment. 
  • Experience in compliance advisory, monitoring, regulatory change, investigations or whistleblowing; knowledge of data protection and contract law is an advantage. 
  • Full professional proficiency in Italian and English. 
  • Strong judgement, integrity and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge and escalate where necessary. 
  • Independent, pragmatic and collaborative working style across local, regional and global teams and stakeholders; strong consulting skills, combined with a proactive, hands-on and solutions-oriented approach. 
  • Ability to operate with credibility in a matrix, multi-entity environment. 

Compensation 

RAL (Retribuzione Annua Lorda): EUR 50,000 - EUR 70,000 gross per year. The final starting salary within this range will be determined using objective, gender-neutral criteria, including the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
