In addition to managing the existing portfolio, our Property & Casualty business is expanding its Client Management team. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Client Manager with a primary focus on the Indonesia market to drive strategic client acquisition, deepen relationships, and explore new market potential in close collaboration with the existing team.

Your Role

You will serve as the Client Manager for Indonesian Non-Life reinsurance business. Combining strong commercial acumen, technical expertise, and relationship management skills, you will drive profitable growth, position Munich Re as an innovative leader, and deliver exceptional client service.

Client Facing, Marketing & Relationship Management

  • Develop, maintain, and service existing client and broker relationships while identifying and pursuing new business partnership opportunities.
  • Strengthen and expand strategic client relationships; act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring high service standards across renewals, claims, and day-to-day interactions.
  • Drive Munich Re’s positioning in the region as an innovative reinsurer that leads opinion on emerging and traditional risks, proactively offering tailor-made reinsurance, capital, and digital solutions.
  • Prepare, analyse, and evaluate client and market data from both external and internal sources; develop customised marketing and presentation materials to support client discussions and negotiations.
  • Lead negotiations with clients and brokers, explaining complex technical concepts clearly in collaboration with underwriters and specialist teams.
  • Maintain strong market profile and visibility through regular engagement, industry events, and thought-leadership initiatives.

Product & Market Strategy

  • Advance our product and service offerings to existing and new clients, including traditional reinsurance as well as innovative solutions.
  • Develop, enhance, and successfully implement Line of Business (LoB) strategies for the Indonesia Non-Life portfolio.
  • Ensure alignment of LoB strategies with overall market and client strategies across all lines of business.
  • Proactively support underwriters by exploring new business fields, identifying growth opportunities, and helping to expand the portfolio beyond the existing book.
  • Formulate and implement client segmentation and prioritisation frameworks to optimise business development efforts.
  • Contribute sound market and client insights to the annual planning and budgeting process.
  • Implement defined strategies and operational client management within the assigned market; support broader market growth initiatives by collaborating with underwriting and capital solution partners.

Underwriting Quality & Collaboration

  • Work closely with the underwriting division to develop and execute market-relevant underwriting standards and guidelines.
  • Advise the Southeast Asia team and regional expert teams on key market topics, regulatory developments, and other factors impacting underwriting and business decisions.
  • Provide strategic input into major business opportunities and contribute to portfolio optimisation and risk management.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with pricing, actuarial, claims, and other specialist teams to deliver integrated, high-quality reinsurance solutions.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related discipline. Professional insurance/reinsurance qualifications (e.g., ACII, CPCU) are highly regarded.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in business development, client management, account management, or consulting roles within the insurance or reinsurance industry, preferably in Non-Life/Property & Casualty.
  • Proven success in handling complex business relationships, partnerships, and high-stakes commercial negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of insurance/reinsurance profitability drivers, financial concepts, pricing, and risk transfer mechanisms.
  • Client-centric mindset with a proactive sales attitude, creativity, innovation skills, and a strong drive to achieve results.
  • In-depth knowledge and extensive experience in the Indonesia insurance/reinsurance market
  • Excellent marketing skills, ability to generate ideas, identify opportunities, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit combined with intellectual curiosity and a passion for exploring new topics and solutions.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and relationship management skills; proven ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders (including C-level) and work cross-functionally in a diverse, international environment.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to foster a client-centric culture.
  • Fluent in Business English (written and spoken) is essential; proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is a strong advantage.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to Indonesia.
