Data Engineer Intern

You will be part of Munich Re’s Regional AI/Analytics Team (RAC) in Singapore for an internship. This role is designed for aspiring talents interested in the intersection of data science and next-generation AI technologies. You will be part of a dynamic, cross-functional team supporting Munich Re’s Life and Health business across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. The internship offers hands-on exposure to Data engineering and Operations pipelines with Databricks, Spark, Insurance and ML + BI experience.

We are seeking interns available for a full-time commitment from May to December 2026 only – please apply only if you can commit to this period.

Your Role

• Build data pipelines using data bricks and Pipelines.
• Build production grade reporting dashboards for actuarial analysis.
• Build solutions leveraging Machine Learning and Generalized Linear Models (GLMs) in Actuarial science.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the data analytics centre in Munich to leverage capabilities in big data technology.

Your Profile

• Hands on experience and strong coding fluency in Python and Pyspark.
• Experience in working with relational SQL data stores (Microsoft SQL, MySQL or similar).
• Experience in building large scale data pipelines and distributed computing with Databricks.
• Experience in cloud computing platform. Microsoft Azure is preferred.
• Visualization in Power BI is an advantage.
• Experience in building machine learning models and data pipelines at scale is an advantage.
• Experience in insurance/reinsurance industry would be an advantage.
• Good problem-solving skills with an aptitude to learn and upskill on data engineering foundations while working with senior data engineers.
