Actuarial Data Scientist Intern (Non-Life) (m/f/d)*
Central Reserving uses quantitative and qualitative methods to perform and oversee the loss reserve analyses for Munich Re’s group-wide property and casualty business. This includes continuous monitoring of the group’s reserve position, and the further development of actuarial methods, the underlying systems and tools.
The IFRS17 Plan & Solvency II team in Central Reserving ensures accurate processing of IFRS17 plan and Solvency II data, delivers actuarial insights based on advanced quantitative and technical analysis and translates insights into a reporting and business contexts – working in close collaboration with the global reserving community and ensuring efficient processes.
You will be able to obtain an overview of the non-life business of Munich Re Group and have the opportunity to contribute to the application of insightful prediction tools and reporting standards.
Your Job
- Assist in simplifying and automating IFRS17 and Solvency II reporting processes
- Conduct independent research on statistical and methodological approaches to drive and pilot AI use case ideas within the closing activities related to IFRS 17 and Solvency II
- Perform data analysis to discover data patterns, understand visualize and summarize the data, estimate the quality and discover anomalies
- Present research results to technical and non-technical stakeholders within the global reserving community
Your Profile
- University student in data science, computer science, statistics or a similar area
- Proficient in MS Office, SQL, PowerBI, GIT and Python with experience in automation and a strong emphasis on data analysis
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive research projects with creativity, curiosity, and scientific rigor.
- Knowledge of non-life insurance principles and reporting and internship experience is an advantage
- Intrinsically motivated team player with a positive attitude
- Working collaboratively and effectively in an international group
- Regular presence in our Munich office during the initial onboarding phase
Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit. The first master's degree may not have been completed before/during the entire internship.
